FAQs
Questions we get asked
Eleven questions, answered for how the service runs today rather than how it ran in 2016. If yours is not here, the contact page has a number and an email address that reach a person.
-
How long does a repair take?
It depends on the repair. Display, battery, charging port and audio jobs are quick once the device is on the bench. Board-level work, liquid damage and data recovery take longer, because the first job is finding out what actually failed.
Courier time sits on top of that and varies with where you are. We are not publishing a turnaround figure until there is one the workshop can hold to in a bad week rather than a good one, so the timing for your repair is agreed with you on the call that follows your booking.
-
What should I do before I send the device?
Back up your photos, messages and files. A repair should not cost you your data, and a backup is the only thing that guarantees it will not.
Then take out the SIM and the memory card, note the IMEI down (dial *#06# to see it), and remove the case and any pop socket. If the handset has an account lock such as Find My iPhone or a Google account lock, switch it off before it leaves you, otherwise the device cannot be tested once the repair is finished.
If you are comfortable removing the screen lock, do that too, because it lets the technician run the full post-repair test. If you would rather not, say so when we call and we will test everything the lock leaves reachable.
-
How do I send the device to you?
Book the repair online and we arrange a courier pickup from your home or office. The device is packed in front of you, and the shipment is insured for the whole time it is out of your hands.
You can also bring it to the workshop yourself if that is simpler.
We are not naming a courier partner or a pickup window on this page yet. The slot is agreed with you on the phone once the booking is in, which is a smaller promise than the old site made and one we can actually keep.
-
How does the device come back to me?
The same way it left. An insured courier delivery to the address on the booking, at no extra charge: pickup and delivery are both inside the repair price.
If you would rather collect it yourself, tell us and we will hold it at the workshop for you.
Nothing is dispatched before it has passed a functional check, and the tracking page moves to dispatched on the day it goes out.
-
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes. Three months on the part we replaced and on the work we did fitting it. Keep your repair request number; it is all we need to pull the job up.
The warranty does not cover a new fault, fresh physical damage or liquid damage after the repair. Those are a new job, and we will say so plainly.
If the handset is still inside its manufacturer warranty we tell you before we open it, because a third-party repair usually ends that cover. We can route the repair through the brand instead, at a facilitation charge of ₹100 plus GST.
-
How can I pay?
Card, UPI, or cash on delivery when the device is handed back to you.
Prices are quoted before tax. GST at 18% applies to repair of goods under SAC 998713, and you get a GST invoice for every repair.
-
When do I pay?
Nothing at booking. The technician inspects the device, we call you with the final cost, and the repair starts only once you have approved it.
Payment is due after the repair is done, before or at delivery. Cash on delivery means you pay when the device reaches you.
A price shown while you book is indicative. It is based on the model and the fault you picked, and the inspection either confirms it or changes it, with your agreement.
-
How do I track my repair?
Open the tracking page and enter your repair request number, which looks like RR-BLR-0001, together with the email address or mobile number you booked with. Both are checked, so a guessed number on its own shows nothing.
The status follows the job: picked up, received at facility, diagnosed, awaiting your approval, in repair, repaired, quality check passed, dispatched, delivered. If you booked while signed in, your account lists every repair you have ever sent us.
-
Can I walk in instead of booking a pickup?
Yes. The workshop is at ServiceMyMobile (e-Mag Solutions), 82/2, NVR Complex, Kudlu Gate, Hosur Road, Bengaluru 560068.
Pickup and delivery is the usual route, and most customers never need to come in, but you are welcome to drop the device off and collect it yourself.
Call before you set out, so someone is at the counter to receive the device and write it up properly.
-
What do I pay if the device cannot be repaired?
₹200 towards the inspection, and the device comes back to you at no further cost. That is the charge when a device turns out to be beyond economical repair.
If the repair is possible and you decide against the quote, the charge is the ₹300 general service charge, which covers the inspection and the return trip. Both amounts are before GST.
Data recovery is the exception. An attempt that recovers nothing is not charged for.
-
Is my data safe with you?
The people who open your device do not go through it. Asking you to back up and to pull the SIM and memory card out first is the other half of that: what never reaches the bench cannot be read there.
Some repairs do need the device wiped, a firmware reflash being the obvious one. You hear that before the work starts, not after.
Pattern unlocking is done without wiping the phone wherever the handset allows it, and only against proof of ownership: the original invoice or box, plus ID matching the booking. A service that unlocks anything handed to it is a service for stolen phones.
